Junior Netball Champions

The Junior netball team played their grade final against Turakina Maori Girls' College this Saturday. The team continued their excellent form with another win, this time 24 - 16 and the result means the team maintained their 100% winning record for the season. Once again it was the suburb teamwork which was the highlight of the victory.
Showing strength right across the court Rangitikei started strongly and quickly had a 9 - 5 lead at quarter time. They never looked like relinquishing their lead as the game progressed and a final margin of 8 goals was a fair representation of the strength of the teams.
On attack the accuracy and teamwork of Jessica Rongomaki-Lowe and Stacey Jones meant that most chances were taken when they received the ball. They were well supported by Materina TeTue, Vyncent Potaka-Hetet, Tayla Stewart and Rhianna Brenkley who all ensured a good supply of ball into the shooting circle and through the midcourt. Very strong on defence were Kate Jones and Sophie Welsh who make their opponents work for every goal and worked well as a defensive pairing.
The team has developed well under the guidance of coach Whaea Marise and their hard work has produced excellent rewards. They can all be proud of their efforts and their achievements this year.
