Work Day With Career Focus

The annual Rangitikei College Work Day was held last week with students working to raise money and also to experience ‘real' work. Students worked all over the Rangitikei district and in a variety of capacities. Some worked on community projects such as gardening or cutting firewood, others worked at local businesses such as CMP and even in Ohakea. Students from the Colleges' Building Academy also spent time with their teacher Mr Kingi working around the College on various projects as part of their day. Teacher in charge of the work day, Assistant Principal Sheree Osgood said the support of the local community was very much appreciated for this annual event.
The money is used by the Rangitikei College Student Council on projects the students see as important around the school. The focus this year is on beautifying their shelter area and increasing the seating in this area. The project also links in with the Building Academy who will be responsible for designing and constructing the additional seating and other developments in the shelter area.
